DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) acquires Specialist for Robotic Maintenance in Germany

Effective on March 1st 2018, DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) acquired the Alpin Technik und Ingenieurservice GmbH company headquartered in Leipzig. Since 1997, the company has been active in the robotic maintenance of infrastructure and for the energy producing and chemical industries.

On 5 continents, Alpin Technik Leipzig carries out structural inspections, non-destructive and destructive testings as well as special assemblies and repairs. The scope of services also includes corrosion protection for cables and stay cables as well as the business area Access, which comprises systems such as mobile support platforms, motorized rope access technology, self-driving robots or the use of drones.

Sanjay Razdan, President Global Services DYWIDAG-Systems International, said: “The Alpin Technik acquisition enhances the service offering for our customers by using state of the art technologies and innovative solutions. In October 2017, IPC and DSI Construction, both based in the USA, confirmed a strategic partnership for the utilization of technology for the nondestructive inspection of bridges and industrial structures.
IPC, a complex bridge inspection & robotic engineering firm, is committed to delivering inspection and testing services in the USA. IPC is a nondestructive testing (NDT) services company that applies proprietary and patent pending NDT inspection technology to assess the structural integrity of critical bridges and infrastructure.

DSI is a global market leader in the development, production and supply of DYWIDAG Post-Tensioning, Stay Cable and Reinforcing Systems for the construction industry. DSI is continuously improving its systems, always keeping up with the growing demand of innovative construction technology. The demand for advanced nondestructive testing methods and first class repair & strengthening solutions offered as a complete service package is continuously increasing.

DSI will utilize the proprietary technology developed by IPC for the nondestructive inspection of post-tensioning cables and stay cable systems. Appointment of new CEO for DSI Construction

Luxembourg, August 7th 2017 - The Board of the DSI Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Matti Kuivalainen as CEO of DSI Construction effective September 1st 2017.

"We are very happy that Matti Kuivalainen is joining as our new CEO of DSI Construction. Following the implementation of a divisional structure last year, we have spent significant time reviewing the strategy of DSI Group's two divisions and are excited by the potential to develop them further under dedicated leadership. Matti´s track record and experience make him the ideal candidate to lead DSI Construction", said Matthew Turner, Chairman of the DSI Group Board.

Matti Kuivalainen is a seasoned CEO with extensive national and international experience. He has been involved in creating significant value, particularly in his leadership roles at United Technologies (UTC); most recently he was President North, East, and Central Europe & Africa of Otis, the world’s leading installer and maintainer of elevators. Prior to that, Matti was President Germany, Nordic, Central and Eastern Europe of UTC’s Building & Industrial Systems Division. Prior to UTC, he was part of the European leadership team of Honeywell Building Solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Technical Institute of Wartsila, Finland, and an eMBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
